BOYS

Coach: Will Jones

2019-20 Record: 26-4

With some key components returning for the defending Class A state champs, the Wolverines appear to be in great shape for a return trip to Oklahoma City this year. Point guard T.J. Bennett (5-10, Sr.) is Garber’s go-guy. He averaged 12 points a game with seven assists in running the Wolverine offense and Jones uses just three words to describe him: Clutch, Winner, Leader. Also returning at power forward is TyDonte’ Chester (6-3, Jr.) who averaged 10 points and game while pulling down eight boards a contest. And at 6-3, 230 pounds Jones description of him as “a beast” should send shivers down the spine of the opposition. Weston Light (5-10, Sr.) is the Wolverines defensive specialist. “He’s got relentless energy and will not be outworked,” says Jones. A trio of juniors will fight it out for other starting spots including Aidan Johnston (6-4), Solomon Bishop (6-2) and Davis Nagel (6-2). SOMETHING TO WATCH - Bennett was the Daily Oklahoman state tournament MVP last year. In a tribute to his versatility, Jones calls Davis Nagel “a Swiss army knife who is tough, a good defender and can score inside and out.” With a solid group returning, another Class A title is not out of the question for the Wolverines.
