Alva’s Jaxon Jones – Northwest Technology Center Athlete of the Month
Multi-sport student-athlete Jaxon Jones is a member of the varsity basketball team and plans to run track this spring. He’s also a member of the varsity cross country team at Alva High School and someone to watch this spring. The sophomore also takes classes at Northwest Technology Center and is enrolled in the Digital Design program.
“I’m taking Digital Design at NW Tech,” said Jones. “I took the class because I love to do that kind of stuff. And having a class for it is amazing.”
Jones not only enjoys design work, but he loves technology as well. Having the ability to take classes at NW Tech will give Jones a great foundation for a possible career in the design field after high school.
“I’ll either go to college after I graduate or I may go to work for my dad,” said Jones.
There are many things about the program Jones likes including the hands-on learning and the freedom the instructors give you to complete the projects.
“I love the freedom to work at my pace,” said Jones. “You work on your time.”
Jones said he decided to take classes at NW Tech because it would help him make future decisions about jobs and careers once he graduates from high school.
“NW Tech gives us options for future jobs and we learn about the latest technology,” said Jones. “Take a class at NW Tech because you learn a lot, lots of hands-on activities. There’s something out here for everyone.”
Away from school, Jones said he enjoys hanging out with friends and playing video games.
