Cherokee High School’s Damien Ramirez is proud to be recognized for not only his athletic achievements, but his character on the field as well.

“Good character to me means having a good attitude, being committed, having integrity, and being compassionate; basically, just being positive,” said Damien. “It’s a good feeling knowing others are looking up to you. I try to set a good example for kids.”

Damien is a junior at Cherokee and highly involved in the athletic department. He plays basketball holding the position of guard, football as a running back and wide receiver, baseball as an infielder, and he is also on the golf team.

Balancing school, a busy athletic career, and life in general can be tough at times, but Damien tries his best to stay on top of his busy schedule. Staying motivated with a schedule like Damien’s can also be a challenge at times, but he is focused and determined.

“When times get tough, I stay motivated by just thinking about how things could be worse and try to stay positive with whatever I’m going through,” Damien said.

When Damien isn’t busy on the court playing his heart out, he enjoys lifting weights at the gym and spending time with his friends.

After high school Damien would like to attend college in pursuit of a degree in sports and fitness management.
