Enid Live Well 1125x360

When you ask Chisholm High School junior Grant Biggers about what he likes to do in his free time, he just laughs.

“I love how you call it free,” he said. “I usually try to do some light weight lifting to stay fit. I have been throwing the ball quite a bit and hope to get a lot of backward Ks under my belt from the mound. I am usually at work on weekends and doing something every night of the week, whether it’s cooking dinner for my family or studying for the next test. It’s a nonstop grind.”

That level of dedication has led to success on the field in the past, and Biggers said his focus for the upcoming season is to make another state tournament appearance.

“First and foremost, we want to actually have a season,” he said. “We know what it’s like to have that taken away from us and we know it is crucial to be smart in this pandemic. But ultimately, as a team, we want to win districts and move on to regionals and state. I was lucky enough to be part of the baseball team that went to state my freshman year. I loved the experience and I look forward to it in the future. Personally, I am striving to field the balls hit to me and hit the balls thrown to me. We only have one senior this year, so it’s up to the juniors to take on that leadership role, and I am doing my best to show the younger group what it means to be a high school athlete.”

As a junior, Biggers said it’s too early for many plans past high school.

“I am open to all sorts of plans and opportunities at the moment,” he said. “If the right one comes, I’ll take it in a heartbeat.”
